Horseracing Ireland drainage works

The Background

Horseracing Ireland identified a number of racecourses which needed intensive drainage installation over a short period of time through a three year framework. The courses were Leopardstown Racecourse, Fairyhouse Racecourse and Navan Racecourse.

The Solution

Richard Hayden supervised the design and installation of nearly 700,000 metres of drainage including pipe drainage, slit drainage, water management infrastructure and attenuation systems. The project was delivered by CRL and involved racecourses at Fairyhouse, Navan and Leopardstown all installing drainage systems at the same time.

The Result

The tracks at Leopardstown, Fairyhouse and Navan now have consistent, year round conditions which drain well but are forgiving enough for jump racing.
