Edenderry GAA

Background

Following Irelands financial crisis, many former development lands lay dormant and some turned into “Ghost estates”.

Determined not to allow this to happen, the ambitious club of Edenderry GAA, founded in 1891, purchased one such piece of land.

Two new pitches were proposed utilising existing soil material which had already been removed for the housing and road development.

The solution

Hayden Turfcare were engaged to carry out our full Six Stage Project Management Process in coordination with architects Cummins and Voortman.

Following a competitive tendering process, local contractors Emerald Pitch Developments were engaged for project delivery.

With an abundance of topsoil available on the site, the project included extensive grading and levelling of the pitch area. This was followed by the installation of an intensive drainage system and sand capping of the pitches. Relocation of electricity lines was also carried out.

The result

Both pitches were constructed and delivered in 6 weeks - ahead of budget, ahead of time and available for play in time for the start of the season.

Richard Hayden was featured on Irish TV talking about the project in November 2016.
