Saint Endas Ballyboden GAA Dublin
The Background
Having initially spoken directly to several contractors, the committee at Ballyboden GAA felt they needed expert support to guide their decision making.
While many of the different solutions presented by contractors were credible, the committee needed a system to ensure like-for-like tendering and the selection of an approach suitable for their needs.
A short timeframe from August 2016 to September 2016 was available to fully reconstruct, re-level, re-drain and sand cap the pitch. Additionally, a new boundary fence needed to be installed that met with strict conditions that had been agreed with local residents.
The project goal was to have the pitch back in play in Spring 2017.
The Solution
Hayden Turfcare were engaged to carry out our full Six Stage Project Management Process and following a competitive tender process, DAR Golf were appointed as contractors.
Comprehensive feasibility studies revealed specific logistical and technical challenges associated with location within a residential area.
Detailed project plans and specifications were developed that considered these constraints and focused on the need for rapid turnaround in site reconstruction and drainage of the soil-based pitched.
The result
A tightly managed and ambitious program was delivered through excellent teamwork with client, contractor and consultant.
Playing surfaces were delivered in good time for the first match of the season and to the satisfaction of the club. Importantly in addition to this, positive relations with residential neighbours to the site were maintained.
